I am currently reading this book by P.G. Wodehouse, recommended to me by my husband. It comprises eleven Wooster and Jeeves short-stories that are superbly funny and enjoyable. Do you have any idea why he was knighted so late in his life ? perhaps he was in his 90's. Is it because he took a dig at the British aristocracy ?

You're right. It's because he moved to America and became an American citizen that his knighthood came so late.
